Types Of Family Reunions

Types of Family Reunion and Choosing the One that Fits Yours

No two individuals are exactly the same. However, families are made up of individuals who are unique in their own ways. The individuals that make up a family are the reason that no two families are alike. Families come in different shapes, sizes, personalities and collective culture. Just look at your own family. You are born into a family that is entirely different from the family you married into.

If you have just been voted to plan the next family reunion, you should consider the kind and type of family you have because knowing so can greatly help you in the planning process.

For instance, your family generally loves food and the outdoors. With this in mind, a family reunion picnic may just be the perfect type of family reunion to plan. If you are operating on a low budget, this type of family reunion can be relatively inexpensive. You can ask everyone coming to bring the food and drinks. Another type of family reunion is one you can hold in your or another family member's backyard and holding a barbecue and poolside party. Again, this type of family reunion is inexpensive as you won't have to pay for the venue, arrange transportation and make hotel accommodations.

If your budget, however, is quite substantial, you can hold a grand family reunion celebration by tying it up with a specific family event such as your grandparents' silver wedding anniversary or a new baby's christening. Or you can simply hold the family reunion in a five-star restaurant and spend an evening of fine dining with your family.

Food may not be only thing that your family likes. If your family loves adventure and are open to taking risks, you can hold a family reunion that involves outdoor activities. You can invite everyone on a camping trip or a day at a national or state park. You can also engage family members on a road trip. Decide on your final destination and then map out the different stops you'll make along the way. You can travel on a convoy, stopping at for the night at inns and motels.

Is your family spiritual? If so, why not plan for a family reunion with this interest in mind? In fact, you can enlist the help of a spiritual counselor or even a minister in planning the various activities. In this regard, the family reunion doubles as a retreat, an opportunity for all attending to become spiritually renewed.

To bring out the quirky and funny side of your family members, plan a family reunion that revolves around a theme, one that's sure to bring out humor. Have family members come all dressed up based on the theme.

There are occasions when family reunions are held after a family member dies. Although losing a loved one is a sad event, many take this opportunity to get the entire family together. If the family member who dies is one of the older ones, this can move the other members to go to the wake or memorial service, and this becomes an opportunity for those who are still living to become reacquainted, on top of celebrating the deceased family member's life.

Whichever type of family reunion you decided to go with, make sure that those you plan on inviting are notified well ahead of time so they can schedule the event into their schedules. Also, come up with a rough estimate of the number of people you think will come to the family reunion. If you think that there will be more than 50 people coming, holding the family reunion in a restaurant may not be the best thing to do.

Also consider the age of those who are attending the reunion. Will there be many older family members? If so, a camping trip may not be appropriate type of family reunion to hold. A road trip sounds all right, but you need to make sure that the older family members are sold on this idea and their health can take it.

Family reunions are a wonderful event that allows you and your family members get to know each other better. If your family is scattered across different states, a family reunion is perfect to get everyone together. So decide what kind or type of family reunion will work with your family, and plan well for it. A family reunion is a great way to exchange stories and be in the company of people who share your blood.

Change Your Outlook on Change

D.Make no mistake about it, change is challenging whether it is conscious or unexpected.  Viewing adversity as change, not loss or failure, is part of empowered and positive thinking.  Humans develop resiliency through change, both physiologically, and emotionally

Make no mistake about it, change is challenging whether it is conscious or unexpected.  Viewing adversity as change, not loss or failure, is part of empowered and positive thinking.  Humans develop resiliency through change, both physiologically, and emotionally

Its necessary for all life forms to evolve.  Change comes though many vehicles some hit us hard, others are rather sneaky.  But despite the challenges change brings, we know it is our natural state.  Its inevitable the world grows and we grow with it fueled by our emotions.  We are already designed to cry, express sorrow, frustration, anger, resentment, even give up for awhile and most of us choose to explore these feelings. But we are also designed to have hope, recover, be stronger, and inspire others as a result of change.  You are never, never alone because emotion gives us plenty in common - as a society, we are not yet Vulcans.

What makes one person triumphantly survive loss and turn it into positive energy, while another in similar circumstances resign?  It has to do with our underlying assumptions on change.  I have two very dear friends; each have had a double mastectomy from breast cancer.  Losing body parts is devastating, not to mention living with the daily uncertainty of not knowing whether you continue to remain in remission.  Yet one woman has forged ahead as a life-force warrior, focusing on triumphs and wins of today.  She doesnt look back.  The other has difficulty moving forward not engaging in work outside her home, quitting her job, waiting for something to happen while in a state of self-imposed limbo.   Theyve processed their information in completely different ways.  Why?

Its because people want certainty before they decide to accept change.  Its a natural reaction.  Certainly our culture has become more comfortable with making choices that have predictable outcomes.  A current cultural disease we suffer from is predictability, reflected in our inability to accept change at a deeply personal level.  It applies across the board to choices we make with our finances, careers, or our relationships.  Science, especially when applied to health issues, has given us a false security blanket when it comes to certainty. After all, it seems weve been able to control nature. We like to think weve cornered the market on predictability and good planning, when the truth is we live in a time where prediction is more intuition and common sense than science.  To embrace change, we need to release the umbilical cord we think we have to outcomes of certainty.  In other words, stepping off of the plateau requires a huge amount of trust.  Your fall will be broken somewhere at the right time. Believing that is what allows us to cope.  It is the first step, unsupported by any scientific doctrine.  And its a big one.

No matter what science pronounces, whether it is in the form of a diagnosis, prognosis, or the state of the environment, there is no sure thing.   Science has already given us permission to accept truth with a margin of error in just about anything.  There is always the possibility something may exist, or not exist, despite what patterns indicate.  Truly, it is a useless endeavor to let science, or proof for that matter, hold you back from moving forward. Whether it is health, or other issues surrounding job loss, divorce, or death, you will successfully navigate through change and elevate the quality of your life by knowing anyone can beat the odds.  There is evidence everywhere, not just from Christopher Reeves, Mattie Stepanak, or those whose stories you find in People magazine, but from the dry cleaner, your third cousin, your own child.  Almost everyone you know has a story of beating the odds.  Lets pay attention to the real evidence instead of looking for ways to prove that we cant make it or the odds are just too great.

Adopting a new attitude on adversity requires big picture thinking on the subject of change.  View life, and spiritual development for that matter, as an upward spiral where you experience some of the same lessons over and over again.  Is it because we just arent getting what the lesson is telling us?  Perhaps, but thats not the only reason.  Weve deliberately put those circumstances in our chart in frequent doses to allow ourselves an opportunity to see how weve been progressing on the upward part of that growth spiral.  Adversity is an inescapable performance indicator a frequent reminder of our upcoming 360-degree review in how we handle the bumps.  We are meant to be a stronger, more insightful person each time we get walloped.  With each business obstacle, make a stronger commitment toward your goal of service to humanity; each time you grieve, become better at comforting others and showing compassion; after each funeral, return home knowing life is a precious gift.  With all setbacks, it drives the point home on the one true certainty in life and that is we must use our time wisely to make conscious change in the world. Change is designed to get outside of ourselves and become conscious of our place within a community of souls.  Without change, there is no transformation. Change is good, making us stir the self-development pot a little faster!

Buying Cheap Real Estate Properties At State Auctions

State auctions are becoming more and more common nowadays. People meet up and convene during these social functions to see what the state government has to offer to the public.

Some people are particularly keen on state real estate properties, because they always equate such assets to profits and ideal locations and values.

That is why state auctions for real estate properties are almost always jam-packed. Most traders, buyers and investors flock such occasions to be able to peek at potential and promising properties that could also be significant investments

Here are some useful ideas and guidelines that could help you make it through and get away with real estate property auctions in the state level.

1. The real estate property is an investment so treat it as such. That means, expect volatile prices. Seek advice and gather expert opinion about a particular real estate asset you might want to make an eye at.

2. Seek the professional help, advice or opinion of a broker or an agent. Usually, these middlemen gets the transaction going, meaning all the other aspect of the sale and acquisition would be taken care of. You just have to place the funding, pay commission and voila, you are there, the estate is yours. Saves time and effort.

3. Evaluate and assess the overall state of the real estate property for sale. It would be easy to assess whether the pricing justifies the sale of the property.

4. Keep an eye on details of the transaction, like the payment terms. Usually, real estate transactions are priced 20% to 30% more if the payment term is installment and spread throughout some period of time.

5. Never keep your eye off the price tag if you are looking and considering the real estate property. Sometimes, there are aspects or areas that you might see really appealing, but in reality, the shortcomings and imperfections are far more and would greatly offset the desired qualities. Be realistic.

Buying real estate properties is never a hard task. Just be sure the ideas and concepts you have in mind are still intact. And that you will be focused all throughout the process. Otherwise, seek professional help or consider buying properties through other venues.

Cold Calling Does It Work? Get The FREE EBOOK About Search Engine Placement

I think most people hate making cold calls. Well, if your dead set on doing it, here are some tips.
Help the other person, that's what its all about. You don't want to create an uncomfortable situation with another person. When we're only focused on making the sale, this is not a natural meeting place for both people. We want the sale, but the other person usually wants us to go away. Being intrusive is not the finest of character traits, and on some level we know it. Can we feel good about cold calling? Look at cold calling as an opportunity to assist someone. Just look at it that way, your helping someone, what's wrong with that? Look at cold calling as an adventure.
Tell the truth, be positive, be confident, you will make your prospect much more comfortable. When you approach a potential client with integrity and common sense, you're more personable and less tense. Being fully honest is one of your better attributes. And it gives you an opportunity to enjoy the interaction rather than being artificial or deceiving. People do seem to have a sixth sense about integrity. When they feel you can be trusted, you can truly shine as a person as well as a potential supplier. Engage people in natural conversation. The more natural you are, the more comfortable you will feel. This makes the other person feel more comfortable as well.
Avoid playing games, especially reading from a script. Most people can tell when you're using a script. There's nothing personal about it, and they pick up on that. Being artificial puts you in the ypical salesperson category, which is exactly the role most of us detest. It doesn't feel authentic. And unless you're a born actor, it makes you feel skittish about cold calling. Allow the conversation be relaxed. Let it be the kind of conversation you would have with a family member. Practice makes perfect, right? And you may actually become friends with that new person the next time you pick up the phone. Shift your thinking away from what you want and focus instead on what their wants are.
So many of us have been trained think about our services and products, that we don't think about the client's point of view. We aren't really interested in their issues and how we can help solve them. Be interested in their world and their challenges. You'll find this intriguing. Most of us have a natural flair for problem solving. We enjoy fixing things. So find out what's going on with the person you're talking to. Make sure the solution is a true solution. Get rid of any hidden agendas and truly listen. Let them know you're interested in them and their world. Move outside your own sales agenda to focus on the needs of others.
This makes you a better human being and helps you leap past the fear of cold calling. Never assume anything beforehand. Allow the conversation to be one of exploration and discovery. Stay focused on the dialogue instead of any private agenda. All this advice is sound, but maybe your time could be better spent, by rising to the top of the search engines! How do we do that?

Advice for the Wise When Investing in Real Estate

Although real estate investing is known to most investors to be one of the safest and most profitable investment in general, some places in the past have known home prices to go down. Appreciating in one city doesn t necessarly mean that the same city will experience the same increase in home value the next year. Many factors are contributing to house price appreciation. Inventories, climate, crime rate, economy and population growth are the main factors. A good mortgage can also play a role in your investments. Always read your loan application carefully before signing it when it is approved. Avoiding a prepayment penalty for instance can save you thousands of dollars when selling your home. The purchase price of your investment home is capital too. Most investors who take their time have been able to buy their homes at 10-30% below market value. This obviously takes time to do and depends a lot on the market condition. Determining the best performing zip codes within a certain city. Remember that crime can be different from North to South in one same city. Price appreciation also varies according to different criteria like proximity to hospitals, malls, police station and crime rate.

Before You Sell Let Your Realtor Help You to Prepare

When preparing to sell a home, you may be dealing with a lot of mixed feelings ? for example, letting go of all the memories in the old house, yet looking forward to new and exciting adventures in a new one. It also is a very hectic time, especially if you moving out of the area. There will be the going-away parties with neighbors and at work, ensuring you have changed your address with everyone, and coordinating the sale of your home with the purchase of your new one.

Your realtor(s), both for selling the old home and for buying the new one, can be of great assistance to you in coordinating these transactions and avoiding the domino effect of the closing, moving and closing dates. Your realtor gets everyone to commit to a window of dates and also to stick to them. The realtor will get all agreements in writing and can place financial penalties on any party who fails to comply.

Curb Appeal

Your realtor is used to viewing home and property from the potential buyers perspective. He/she can be essential in assisting you to prepare your home with a strong curb appeal. It is important for your property to be visually appealing in order to attract more potential buyers and garnering a quicker sale.

The realtor will look at the exterior, which should be well maintained with trimmed trees and shrubs, nothing sitting around to detract from the property?s appeal, foundations without cracks, and well maintained and cleaned window casings, gutters, chimney, shutters, siding, doors and moldings. Anything that needs painting should be painted. If you are not sure, ask your realtor. Ensure the garage door always is closed when not in use.

Another area your realtor will review is the interior, where there are plenty of improvement areas that do not cost a lot to do but make a world of difference in buying appeal. Clean all the windows inside and out with no streaks. Make sure floors, tiles, tubs, showers and faucets sparkle. The same for kitchen appliances, especially ranges, ovens, refrigerator and freezer ? inside and out. Give the carpets a good cleaning, even if you recently did this. Ensure there are clean filters in the heating and air conditioner. Repair squeaky floors and oil squeaky doors. Ensure the faucets do not drip. Your realtor will advise you of many other inexpensive things that will add buyer appeal to your home.

Once your home is ready to show, your realtor will provide invaluable services to you. He/she will establish a fair asking price for your home, based on the location, economic conditions, supply-demand of the local market, seasonal influences, school availability in the area, the average home prices in the neighborhood, and the extra features and amenities of your home.

Next, your realtor will promote, advertise and market your home at no cost to you, using resources not available to homeowners who prefer to self-sell their homes.

Your realtor will schedule all showing appointments, negotiating times that are convenient for you without losing the potential buyers. The realtor will qualify interested buyers, weeding out those who cannot qualify for a mortgage; and then help you negotiate a sale price with the buyer.

Another service of your realtor is referrals for insurance, inspections, legal counsel and financing. Your realtor may even be able to refer you to a lender for a bridge loan, if you are forced to purchase a new home before you have sold your current one. A bridge loan helps, when you are forced to carry mortgages on two homes simultaneously over a short duration.

Rely on your realtor when selling your home. Experience in the industry gives the realtor a unique perspective that can only assist in a good sale for your home.

Baseball Playoffs...Yankees and No Braves?

October is a beautiful month. The cool crisp days, the changing colors of the leaves, and for sports enthusiasts,...playoff baseball.

When it comes to the playoffs, you could usually count on two things, the Yankees and the Braves. Although neither team tends to stick around very long once the games begin, you could always count on both of these teams being there come playoff time. This year however there is a changing of the guard. When the games begin, the Atlanta Braves will be watching on the sidelines like the rest of us. No Ted Turner, no Tomahawk Chops to annoy you, and no early exit for the Braves in the first round of the playoffs. This is really a good thing.

For almost two decades now, Brave fans have watched their team tear through the regular season, running away with the divison, and winning about 12 titles in a row. This is quite a record and would no doubt stand up there with great sport achievements if it weren't for the fact that except for one year, the Braves have bombed out in the playoffs. Year in, year out, Brave baseball fans have watched their team lose in the early rounds of the playoffs, and have lived with the title of the 'Best Regular Season Team in Baseball'. Sadly, like the Vikings and Bills of the NFL, who each went to the Super Bown four times without a championship, the greatness of the achievements will be lost amidst the fact that when it came to the big dance, they couldn't get it done.

It's really hard for one to fathom how a team like the Braves with great talent year in and year out could not manage to win more than one championship during a long, long run. Even allowing for the unexpected 'hot team' to knock you out every once in a while, you would figure that you would have to win a few along the way. But one? It's one of those rare freak sports things like the National League beating the American Leauge in the All Star game 17 out of 18 games or something like that. The difference in talent between the leagues isn't that great to explain how something like that can occur. No, there's something going on here that defies explanation.

For many years, Red Sox fans lived with the 'Curse of the Bambino' in which they believed they would never win a championship because they traded away Babe Ruth to the dreaded Yankees. This 'curse' seemed all too real for Red Sox fans until finally in 2004 they came back from 3 games down to the Yankees and beat them 4 straight and went on to win the World Series. This turn of events put an end to 'the curse' forever. Cubs fans also feel cursed and for them it lives on. It again reared it's ugly head in the 2004 Playoff's when a fan in left field reached out and snatched a foul ball and possibly a trip to the series away from the Cubs. Wooh to that fan!

Whether there are some supernatural events going on here, or just bad.bad luck, it will be strange not seeing the Braves in the playoffs this year. But Brave fans need to look at it on the brightside; no agonizing this year about which upstart team will knock them out. No wondering whether they'll get through the first round. No, this year they'll be none of that. Now they can sit back with the rest of us and watch the best team money can buy make an early exit. Here's hoping.

Glimpse On How To Install Infant Car Seats

How to install infant car seats is the most important question for all parents as safety is the prime concern especially for infants. So proper car seats should be selected or booster seats so that it gets installed properly and the safety of the passenger is maintained. Infants are generally unaware of the risk of danger and injury in accidents. The head, neck bones and the ligaments remains soft in infants and those areas are prone for injury. So to avoid any kind of injuries in crashes a rear facing seat that support the head and protect the spine, back and neck from the strength of accident is the best suited one. Once the infant car seat is properly installed and safety is maintained it minimizes the menace of fatality by seventy one percent.

In the rear facing car seat the infant should be placed at the back of the car seat till the baby attains the age of one year and weight reaches to twenty pounds. Infants should be avoided in placing them in front of the car while riding as they can be injured by the side airbag of the passenger. Adults should follow the certain steps while installing infant car seats by taking care of the infant's safety rules.

Proper installation angles with adjusters should be put up into the car seat and the angle should not be more than 45 degrees from vertical point so that seat is not flat for the infant to slide between straps. While going for a travel in a car the infants should not be wrapped in blankets rather infants should be dresses in proper outfit and the carrying handle should be downwards when the baby is in the car. The seat belts should be locked to ensure the safety of the child as the seat remains tight and while making the belt tight the knee should be placed in the seat and pushed down. It is necessary for al the parents to read the manual before installing proper infant car seat.

I have been using government and police car auctions for more than 7 years. This is my business. I buy cars at a very low price and resell them later. At the website below you can read a review of the auction which provides me with great car deals every month.

Cheers to Housing Correction

Slowly the housing market is becoming a buyer's venue. Prices have been sliding downward. Finally it appears people are getting tapped out. Cancellation rates on contracts and price concessions have become an increasing pattern. Housing depreciation has hit for several straight months. Many will say this is a bad thing since the less people buy the less will be built and the less economic activity and all the rest. Well, good. It appears much of this market boom was built on a shaky foundation ready to come tumbling down. It was basically built on credit, credit, credit. The average American salary is roughly $40,000. Even with the wife working the cost of a house is a severe strain along with all the usual things to go along with it. Thus, all sorts of financial schemes have been thought of- along with low interest rates- to make an unaffordable house, well, affordable. Be it adjustable rate mortgages or virtually no money down risks, the housing market became a gamble.

As usual, many people keep betting their houses will just keep going up in value. In places like New York, California and South Florida, the price increases have been utterly outrageous. Some of the air is starting to come out of the fat balloon. The average price for a house is now about $225,000.

Predictably we see the old pig-out. People get a sense something is booming and then grossly overreact. Thus, we have around 4 million units of housing just sitting around due to over building. Buyers will just keep on waiting for things to come down a bit more.

States like Indiana and Ohio have seen their foreclosure rates go up since the auto industry did its workers in thanks to the joys of free trade. If you have no job or no decent paying job, well, no house to purchase. That is the heart of the problem, of course.

If there is no real money then the house of cards has to come crashing down the way it did during the internet boom. Shaky deals, weird lending policies, etc. can go on for awhile but like the old Wendy's commercial of Where's the beef? the money must be there. No beef equals a housing disruption. Really just common sense.

Most economists agree there is more shaking out to do. Good. If you don't have the money then you really have no business owning homes. Painful but true. If you have to get a deal where you put no money down or very little for a house that is too expensive for your budget and then you hope you can get the money back due to housing appreciation, well, good luck. Some get lucky on that one. But for the average person that is a stressful gamble. Better to pay what you can afford on traditional mortgages.

Of course, some people are gamblers by nature. But do not be shocked when your gamble turns to dust. That is nice if you are one of the big boys like Donald Trump or Steve Wynn or lesser known individuals with the financial means.

In the end it is very simple: Do you have the money or not?

Extreme Body Modification: Implants

Implants:

the reason that I choose to start talking about implants is very simple, in my point of view they are the beginners in EBM, or using a better choice of words, they are the least invasive of the 3 base techniques. I found so many types of implants and all of them are very interesting, So I decided to write about:

Eye ball jewellery

Magnetic Implants

3d implants

Eye ball jewellery is probably one of the newest techniques of the all EBM. It was developed by ophthalmologic experts, it is an ocular Surgery that adds a decorative platinum implant inserted under a thin membrane in the eye, which holds the implant in place. Since the membrane is clear, the implant can be seen clearly against the white of the eye. There are not many shapes of ornaments offered yet, and it is a very new procedure that for now can only be done officially in Holland, the cost is around U$ 1200.So far the doctors could not find a side effect to it, what does not mean that there aren?t any. In the U.S. some States committees already approved a bill to ban it; the procedure goes more or less like the following:

? The eye is anesthetized with routine eye-drop anaesthesia medication.

? The eye is decontaminated and draped with routine techniques used in ocular surgery.

? An intra conjunctival bleb is created by injection of BSS in the most superficial conjunctive layer. The bleb may be positioned adjacent to the temporal limbus.

? With conjunctive scissors, the bleb is opened and a superficial intra conjunctival tunnel is made.

? The tunnel is checked to determine if it is wide enough to accommodate the implant.

? The device is inserted into the tunnel up to the desired final position of the implant.

? With a sponge, all excess BSS is removed from the implantation area.

? At the end of the procedure, antibiotic drops are applied onto the eye.

? Postoperative management includes antibiotic eye drops for 1-2 week(s).

? The procedure takes about 15 minutes.

So far Doctors could not find any side effect or complications caused by the implant, and hopefully they won?t find any. So keep in mind, there are very few people authorized to do this procedure, and so far it can only be realised in Holland, and even so only 2 clinics are fully authorized to do so.

Magnetic Implants:

What are they? They are small magnet implanted under your skin with the purpose to enhance your senses as if it was the acquisition of the so famous sixth sense, how it happens, by moving in response to an electromagnetic field and transferring this as sensation to the surrounding nerves.

We can divide the magnetic implants into 4 types:

Sensory: The one that supposed to give you the sixth sense

Sexual: Where the magnets are placed inside the most sensitive area or the genitalia of a couple, male and female have to get the implant, it supposed to enhance the feeling of the body parts while in movement against each other, they can also be placed in the lips.

Symbolic: is implanted but a couple to create a magnetic bond as the two people hold hands, as there are not real proves that a couple can really exchange energy thru this technique, we can take it as more discrete kind of wedding rings.

Functional: Probably not a very comfortable matter, but if you get larger magnets you would be able to pick up things such as screws and some other items, with the magnets commonly used you can?t pick up more than a paper clips, the up side of having such small magnets is that they wont affect your credit cards, hard drives, monitors, and so on.

To get the implant is also quite simple:

Small incision in the tip of the finger and opening a pocket

Create a tinny pocket to add the magnetic pellet (the magnets are about a third the size of a grain of rice)

Do the suture and bandage the finger tips (the procedure takes about half an hour to do 5 fingers)

The first few days the sensation is not very pleasant but after a week and the stitches taken off the pain goes away and in the period between 1 to 4 weeks you can start to enjoy the magnetic field moving feeling, and the benefit of this EBM is that the scars are almost invisible and if what I read is true, the feeling is quite interesting.

Because this procedure is bran new the side effects are not known yet, but the biocompatibility of neodymium, but it is considered a generally toxic irritant and moderately poisonous with documented adverse effects. In order to keep the magnet from coming in contact with the skin, it has to be coated with a sheath of biocompatible silicone, there is always the risk of ?peeled? the silicone off of the magnet, if it happens the compromised magnet should be replaced by removed and replaced by a new one.

This procedure is so very new that not even all the BM specialists are doing it; some are waiting for it to get a bit safer and better developed. Because so far risks are unknown, but once that the coating of the magnet problem is solved it will probably turn into a huge trend among people. But if you are one of those that want to get all of it first, please wait until it is proved safe.

3d implants: It is the act of placing an object under the skin to create a design on the skin?s surface, it is actually a very simple technique, an incision is made, and the implant that can be made out of many materials (titanium, soft or solid silicon, Teflon and steel, the steel variety sometimes can cause an infection, there is also the option of natural bone tissue) is inserted, you are stitched up and ready to go. Simple?.the after care apparently is simpler than the after care of a piercing. To get a 3D implant you can choose many areas of the body, forehead (the intern horns, third eye and the external horns), you can place spikes on your head, beads on your arms, legs, chest and many but many more, if you are a guy you can get your penis beaded (pearling), in many different ways.

Some of the risks of the implants are:

-Tissue Resorption: erosion of the tissue by rubbing or pressure applied against the body. Implant can bury itself into the muscles wearing down the body's natural defences; this risk can happen especially with hard materials such as Teflon and stain less steel so if you want to get it done try to use softer materials such as silicone and choose safer places to add the implants.

-Implant Rejection: Is when the implants put enough pressure on the skin above them, that it actually manage to do enough damage to surrounding tissue that the skin above the implant dies and the implant becomes exposed ,once this process begins there's not lot that can be done about it other than removing the implant.

-Pressure on Nerve and Muscle: When an implant is placed on top of muscle, nerves, or blood vessels, it has the potential to interfere with their functioning. To minimize the risk you have to be sure to tell the 3D artist if you are experiencing anything that can be related to it, this way the artist can change the positioning or the placement of the implant without harm you, in some cases the procedure has to be postponed or aborted. You should also strongly consider research about the kind of implant that you will get and the location of it so you can do it safely. There are also many other possible risks that can be associated with implants such as:

Keloids, Implant surface contamination, Implant Biocompatibility, Implant Finishing, Lidocaine Toxicity, Anaesthetic allergy, Sub dermal Shifting, Mod before Client, Needle allergy, Adrenalin Excitement, Impact damage, Hypertrophy scarring, Abscess, Boils, Cancer, Blood loss, Shock, Bloodborne Pathogens

Ok that is all for now guys, next week I will be writing about Surgical modification??And I can promise to you all that it will be a very, but a very interesting article?.Until them, go have fun and enjoy life? Yes, I?m really trying to fix my karma thing??we never know what can happen tomorrow?..

Eleven Ways to Create a Winning Project

Ten + Points for Successful Vertical Fractional Real Estate Development

Everyone seems to have to have a top ten list for this and a top five list for that. And so do I. In fact I have penned numerous articles on fractional real estate ownership, trying to zero in on the very most important components for success in the growing niche of vacation home ownership. As with any recipe, the ingredients vary with the chef. Perhaps one chocolate cake has more sugar, another more layers and some come straight out of a box.

Whatever the mixture, opinions differ on just the right measurements. The latest identifiers for success come from Dave and Emille Ellingson owners of the Meriwether Ranch, a working Cattle Ranch in Southwest Montana which offers rolling lots for single family vacation ranches. The offering will soon include vertical fractionals: vertical? meaning that it fits specific parameters.

Just what are these ?rules? for success in a vertical fractional market?

1.It is located in a superb area for the primary activity. Ski resorts should have the finest slopes; diving resorts, the finest seas; golf properties, the ultimate in links; fly-fishing resorts the ultimate in clear streams.

2.The vertical fractional should then be in the primo location within that general area. If you want to experience the finest wines, a fractional property in the Napa Valley makes sense. If you are an art lover, perhaps an urban property is the way to go. If diving is your passion, Nevis is a pristine environment.

3.Go with a credible developer. You want to make sure they are in it for the long haul, have had previous success and are sensitive to the environment around them.

4.Goods and services should be reasonably available. Of course it is quite fine to be in a remote locale, but you shouldn?t have to drive forever and a day to get supplies in and/or out.

5.Fractionals are primarily purchased are convenience and value. The area should literally teem with expensive luxurious properties and the quality of the fractional property should match or exceed those around it.

6.The season for the primary activity should not be brief. A window of excellent weather on a north country lake or two weeks of cool ocean breezes in a jungle do not lend themselves to a successful venture or investment in this particular market.

7.Don?t get in on the tail end of the market. To win in the fractional world be the first ?on your block? or close to it.

8.Marketing is of prime importance so have access to past and repeat customers. Those who already have an affinity with the area are your best bet to talk with.

9.If you do not have proximity to a commercial airport, make sure you have a decent jet approve private strip available. Your owners will undoubtedly be busy people who will not want to waste their precious relaxation time coming and going to their property.

10.Another terrific attribute is to have a wonderful, rich history to tell or a story to relate. Did Hollywood movie stars come to escape the pace of stardom? Do football heroes return for their golf vacations year after year? Did pirates lose pieces of eight among the reefs?

11.Finally?because this list needed more than ten items to clearly make its statement, make sure you create a plausible use plan that matches the owners? utilization of the Club component of the property. If they cannot use their purchase they will never be happy. And they will let others know of their disappointment. This 11th guideline is perhaps the most important for a vertical niche fractional property.

If you are thinking of getting involved in this exciting segment of real estate, do your research and ask yourself if your property will pass the 11 point test!

Caring About Victims Of Cancer

Kim Tells about caring for victims of cancer and about being involved with the Relay For Life cancer fundraiser.

Caring for people we love can be somewhat trying at times. Caring for victims of cancer can be gut wrenching and heartbreaking. Cancer is a word that brings up all sorts of feelings and emotions such as sadness, heartache and pain. Thoughts of deterioration??? and desperation come to mind. I don?t know one person that has not been affected by it whether you yourself are the victim or someone you know and love. One thing I know for sure, we all need to care about victims of cancer. Caring is one of the most beautiful gifts that God has ever given us. When I think of the word ?caring? I feel love, security, friendship, kindness and concern.

My first heartache that cancer caused was losing my loving aunt. Aunt Wanda was an inspiration to everyone who came in contact with her. The loss was so severe. I was overwhelmed with grief. She had the gift of hospitality.? She made all of the nieces and nephews feel as though they were the most special children in the world. Her own four children adored her. Her husband treated her like she was the queen of their castle. I had the hardest time understanding how this horrible disease could kill such a wonderful person. Aunt Wanda wasn?t a materialistic person in the least. She ran a lot of the women?s fellowships at church and fervently prayed for others.

That?s when I learned that cancer is no respecter of persons. I hate the very sound of the name. Shouldn?t it only attack evil people? If that were true most of us would be so much happier.

After losing Aunt Wanda my other Aunt Wanda was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had to have a radical mastectomy. She is now a survivor. I remember her anger against the disease and how it affected her losing both her breasts. She felt that the disease had stolen part of her womanhood.

She also was so good with children and even had several foster children. Didn?t cancer know that she gave children homes when they didn?t have one? I cried many tears for her.

After that the disease struck my Aunt Inez. She had already lost 13 family members within two years. Again we ask why? Shouldn?t we who lost family members be exempt from this terrible disease? I?m glad to say that today Aunt Inez is also a survivor.

After I lost my sons Gabriel and Josiah I wanted to do more to help others. I?d taken in many kids through the years and volunteered for many a good cause, but I now wanted to use my pain to make a difference. I was seeing all this pain and suffering before my eyes. What would God have in store for me?

My friend Diana was struck with the disease before the boys died and she had to have a radical mastectomy. I watched how she grew closer to God and grew dependant on him. Then when I lost my sons she in turn was such a positive influence on me. Diana now is a survivor.

I know we all wonder why some survive and others don?t. I don?t have that answer. I lost two sons that were so loving and giving and would help anyone. Why? I don?t know. Some of us get to go early (darn it). We live in a world that is not eternal. It is full of sickness and disease. Car accidents and murders are on the news daily. There are also natural consequences in this life. If you run in front of a car, you?ll get ran over. I know I can?t be a hypocrite. I always taught my kids ?Earth is our school and Heaven is our home. We?re only passing through?. It just hurts so bad to be left behind here without our loved ones.

My friend Patty was struck with cancer after I lost the boys. Josiah spent a lot of time at Patty?s house. All my kids are friends with all her kids and their cousins. Patty cried many tears for the boys and I knew her heart hurt for my broken heart. Her first diagnosis was with lung cancer. Then it went to her brain. They took the tumor out and it grew back within a month. She had to have another surgery. Then finally she was cancer free. I cried tears of joy.? She was here to see her oldest daughter Sarah get married.

Now months later they found cancer in her kidney. She had to have her kidney removed. I hate it. I want to scream ?cancer, leave my friend alone?. She has a really neat husband and five children. Patty told me one day that she felt so sorry for her kids. That?s a mother?s heart and a mother?s love.

?My friend Colleen lost her mother to cancer. I?ve been with Colleen on holidays and could tell she was missing her mother. They were like best friends. Holidays are the hardest times when you?re missing a loved one. We want them right beside us. Colleen often decorates her mother?s grave for different holidays. Her mother is buried in the same cemetery as my boys and I?ve often been surprised by beautiful crosses and flowers on my boys graves from Colleen.

If cancer were a person I would call him Lucifer, Satan and Devil. I?d punch him in the face. All?s we know is its name and we need to fight back. Let?s kick cancer in the teeth.

Everyone has heard of ?The American Cancer Society?.? Every year in almost every city across America volunteers come together for a weekend and put on ?Relay For Life?. It?s made up of teams that raise money for cancer research. After Patty was diagnosed I joined a team here in our little city, Lincoln, California. I joined my friend Diana?s team, ?The Ya Ya?s?. I watched my friend suffer and I wanted to make a difference. I had lost two of my children and I wanted to use the pain I always feel and turn it into a positive and help others. Just like I did when I started this web site.

At our ?Relay For Life? we set up our booths clear around our high school football field. We all decorate our spaces with a theme that our teams vote on. The community comes together to help. We have someone at all times walking the track for 24 hours. Each volunteer signs up to walk an hour or two. The first hour is the ?Survivors? walk. Diana and Patty walk in this walk. It was only a week later that Patty had to have her kidney removed. I believe she?ll march on. We all collect pledges. Our little city raises over a hundred thousand dollars every year. If you want to make a difference in your city you can get all the information you need at www.relayforlife.org. Let?s not let the deaths caused by cancer be in vain. Let?s make a difference. Some of our friends and family we will have to say ?until we meet again? and others will live on. But one thing is for sure; we will all end up together in the end. God has made it so. Just believe that Jesus died on the cross for you. Don?t let Jesus death be in vain.

One awesome way that we raised money at our ?Relay For Life? is to sell luminary bags. They?re lunch bag size and you put sand in the bottom to hold a votive candle. The person who buys the bag can write anything they want to say about a loved one. There were several memorial bags and bags with encouraging messages for people still fighting the disease. I like to light one in memory of my sons because I know they would be so proud of me using my pain to help others. We sold enough to go around the whole football field and then to write the word ?Remember? on the bleachers. When it?s dark all the candles are lit and it?s so amazing.

Remember when I said that cancer is no respecter of persons? You can surely see this when you see a child struggle with this disease. Our pastor?s young son has gone through a sickness that has torn at the heart of his parents. Pastor Nathan walked along side his son Isaiah as he walked in the ?Survivors? walk. The pastor has a blog for his son and keeps friends, family and church members updated on his progress. I knew Pastor Nate could understand some of the severe grief I live with on a daily bases after seeing his own son near deaths door. Isaiah has curls all over his head like his daddy?s. When he lost all his curls due to cancer treatment, pastor Nate shaved his head so Isaiah could still look like daddy. A few men in the church also shaved their heads for Isaiah. How cool is that?

I use to say that when I got to Heaven I was going to ask God why did Gabriel and Josiah have to leave me. Now I say that I?ll be so happy to see them and all the loved ones that have gone on before that I?ll forget the whys. Remember to ?Let Go And Let God?.

West Virginia Home Buying

Maybe you?re buying your first home in West Virginia, or perhaps you?re relocating to West Virginia from another state. Either way, it?s important that you educate yourself on West Virginia home loans before shopping for a home and mortgage. This article explains what you?ll need to know before buying a home in West Virginia:

The median price of a home in West Virginia is $72,800. Homes in West Virginia appreciate at a lower rate than that of average national home appreciation; however, they do appreciate at a modest rate. The rate of job growth in West Virginia is below the national average, and income levels in many parts of West Virginia are too low to purchase a median-priced home with a conventional loan.

Average mortgage interest rates in West Virginia are just slightly above the national average interest rate. Income levels in West Virginia are amongst the lowest in all 50 states; however, home prices are also amongst the lowest in all 50 states. Nationally, West Virginia has the lowest number of individuals over the age of 25 whom have Bachelors degrees.

The state of West Virginia has certain laws pertaining to home equity lines of credit (HELOCs) and second mortgages. For example, in West Virginia, the draw period on a HELOC is five years, and, after that period of time, the borrower then has fifteen years to repay the balance of the loan. The minimum credit line on a HELOC in West Virginia is $15,000.

Borrowers have three days after signing a HELOC contract and paying their fees to change their mind and cancel the loan. Borrowers who decide not to take the line of credit within three days will be refunded all fees paid. Additionally, West Virginia law does not allow interest rates on subordinate mortgage loans to exceed 18% per year.

Jessica Elliott recommends that you visit Mortgage Lenders Plus.com for more information about West Virginia Mortgage Rates and Loans.

To Grandmothers We Go

Shrink about This

Grandparents may have all the right intentions; however, the arrival of a toddler to their home can be overwhelming. Here are ten tips to help smooth the transition.

1. FORGET CLEAN Forego a straight or clean home. A toddler is not capable of adjusting to a new environment and transferring their skills as easily as an older child. He or she might be neat at home but find grandma's house confusing. Ignore the mess, otherwise you will scold and nag throughout the visit. That is not how you want to be remembered. Use a broom to push clutter out of the walk way to keep the house safe from falls. Clean up messy spills. If your toddler enjoys picking up you can sing together while you pick up the Lincoln Logs. Otherwise, let Mom and Dad teach their child to be neat, later. When the precious energy cyclone has gone back home, then you can clean in the silence to your hearts content.

2. DELEGATE SHIFTS Grandma, you are out of practice and you get tired more easily. Take turns with Grandpa and older children so that you can lie down in a quiet room and heal your nerve endings. Even thirty minutes will help you bounce back with a smile. If you wear yourself out you could resemble a Disney witch instead of a Norman Rockwell painting of a happy family.

3. MORNING CARTOONS PBS, Sprout and other stations provide a fun line-up of toddler shows like Curious George, Sesame Street and Blues Clues. Take advantage of the hypnotic state that the television creates in their impressionable minds to get yourself to the bathroom, take a shower and get dressed in shifts with your spouse. Beware of shouting, high conflict or violent shows on regular television that may trigger copy cat behavior.

4. DEVELOP A ROUTINE, ANY ROUTINE Duplicate the toddler's normal routine whenever possible. A clever little mind might try to manipulate their normal rules with new surroundings and the absence of Mom and Dad. Spanking or yelling at a toddler is useless and only confuses them more. They want to behave well, and will respond to rewards. Punishment can create a total meltdown as they do not understand cause and effect yet, only that you just hurt them. Use praise, treats and privileges to encourage good behavior. Riding in the car or at bedtime is a good time to recount all the things the child did right today, mentally reinforcing good behavior with lavish praise and appreciation. Grandma is so proud that you held her hand to cross the street and helped her by climbing in your car seat. What a good boy, you are. Thank you. Ignore the mistakes and most will just go away.

5. USE THE PARKS Get ye to the parks and playgrounds. Some cities have indoor museums in case of inclement weather. Keep your toddler in sight at all times, but do allow them to run, hop and spin. No one else can keep a toddler quiet or sitting still so why should you try to force behavior that is impossible at this age? Most people enjoy toddlers and are very tolerant of their exuberance. Helpful strangers are still strangers, so be cautious.

6. NAPS AND BEDTIMES Earplugs help to soften endless chatter, furious yells of I am not tired, and banging on your furniture. Some naps go really well and some are caretaker torture. Bedtime is very scary; do you remember being a child at grandmother's house with creeks and howling wind? I want my Mommy, comes to mind rather quickly. Do your best to make bedtime a happy ritual, never a punishment for misbehavior. Line the bed with stuffed animals, a sippy cup and a favorite blanket, and then hope for the best. You probably can plan on a late night the first few times you attempt to get them to sleep.

7. SAVED Check in the phone book for toddler indoor play areas. Most require you to remain with the child but amazingly you can get some work done amid the din and chaos. Sit at a back table and let your grandchild discover ways to play in a safe and highly stimulating environment. He or she will fall asleep as soon as you get back home and you will get a double break.

8. SUGAR Sugar lurks in fruit juice, bread and fast food as well as candy and cereals. If you want to make it a lot easier on yourself, skip the sugary treats and carry veggies, protein and whole grains with you. Organic fish and nut oils can really help enhance a healthy brain and body for you or your toddler.

9. TIME OUT The tantrums, yelling and stomping feet will happen from time to time, usually out of frustration. Help Grandpa to gain control of his temper and forgive him for losing his cool. Recognize when you or Grandpa need a time out to recover from the stress of a toddler who is trying to experience all facets of life in fifteen minutes. The crushing obligation and responsibility for the safety of your grandchild is weighty indeed. Your children trust you with their most precious gift, their child. If you need a break, take it before you lose your temper and do or say regrettable things. The toddler may not remember you are being a jerk, but your spouse will.

10. TODDLER TIME Downshift your hectic life to simplified tasks. Try to accomplish only the absolute minimum during babysitting occasions. Float into toddler time, be present with them. Do not think about the past or plan the future, just be right now. Have no expectations of getting anything done except keeping company with your wild and crazy charge. Return the undamaged toddler to his or her parents and let them worry about teaching manners or discipline. The kids will scream, Yes, the next time their parents ask, Do you want to go to stay with Grandma and Grandpa? Proudly you will smile at your spouse and whisper, Mission accomplished.

5 Signs She's Turning You Into A ManFriend

Women are known to be terrible, evil, creatures- and we are, although not completely intentionally. The intentionally evil women out there are known as bitches- fair enough. But the most evil thing we women do without meaning to, is to take a man who's falling for us and place him in that permanent friend category. Once you become a friend you stay a friend, forever. Now there are a FEW exceptions out there, I'm sure, but for about 99% of the man-friends out there, don't get your hopes up. This being said- women LOVE man-friends. We adore them, we need them.

A man-friend is almost better than any lady friend and will be used a whole lot more in the advice and venting department. A man-friend is someone we complain to about the jerks in the world, who we expect to be honest and to flatter us unconditionally, to give us advice whenever we call (we call them often) and to never try to woo us because they are our man-friend and must stay that way.

Right from the moment you meet a woman, she will have classified you in her mind as date or future man-friend. If she is interested in you from the start and something goes awry in the process, you can become a man-friend. The tricky thing about man-friends and dates is that a woman will string a guy along just enough to make him a man-friend while it appears she is actually interested in him. All women will deny this I'm just being nice!He knows we're just friends but the truth is, the only real difference in her actions most of the time is in her mind. And since you're not her man-friend yet, you have no idea what she's thinking.

This is what makes man-friends like gold to us, they understand us, and since we don't want to lose someone who understands us so well, we really make sure not to get involved romantically with them.

Allright, here are some signs that will tell you if she's just itching to make you her man-friend.

5. She Insists On Paying Her Half

She won't pay for the entire bill, but she'll always pay her half. She doesn't want to owe you anything, and friends don't pay each other's parts of the bill unless it's a special occasion. So if right for the get-go she makes sure she covers herself financially then she probably is telling you she wants you to be her friend.

4. She Doesn't Flinch if You Check Out Another Girl

In fact, she might even compliment your eye-catching female. Compliment you in the way your mom might Oh, she looks nice or she seems like your type. If your woman doesn't care about you checking other girls out, or is very comfortable with her female friends flirting with you, chances are she's just not interested. It's important to note that she might not be interested in you, but it will seem like it. She'll be smiling and laughing and *totally* into you, but if you return any of the same signs of affection she'll back off leading us to. . .

3. She Has Mini-Freak Outs When You Get Too Close

Sure, she might hug you or touch your hands and arms when you're talking and together, but try anything like that with her and she gets cold. See a man-friend is someone we can flirt shamelessly with without having to worry if he likes us or not- he's not supposed to. The man-friend is supposed to be a good sport and just take the flirting and know that it won't lead anywhere. When women flirt and get cold they are trying to train their new acquaintance to be a man-friend ake all the flirting I do with a grain of salt- if you react I will stop, if you don't I can continue. She will also have big freak-out sessions if you declare any sort of romantic interest in her. First she might just give you the I like you. . . as a friend speech.

2. She Tell You How Much She Appreciates You

Now when on earth has a woman said that you are very important to her in the beginning dates or stages of a relationship? If she's head over heels for you, she WILL NOT allude to any sort of future or dependence on you. She knows guys tend to get wierded out by immediate displays of attachment, and she wouldn't risk chasing you away by admitting to something like that if she liked you. The Man-Friender, however will tell you many things like that. If you've heard one of these statements before, chances are, you're becoming a man-friend.

  • I feel so comfortable around you. You're like a brother
  • Before you, I didn't have anyone to confide in
  • I'm so glad we're friends (BIGGEST SIGNAL OF ALL)
  • You remind me of my old friend, Kevin; we used to get along so well

  • You're such a good friend to me, what would I do without you?

Obviously anything that emphasises FRIEND or BROTHER indicates MAN-FRIEND.

1. She Calls You

If she is interested in you, she's inevitably going to be playing all sorts mind games and other silly dating games (letting the phone ring twice before she picks up, letting it go to voice mail, not accepting dates unless they're planned for three days in advance- article on her games later). One clear sign that you're becoming a man-friend is that she starts to call you early in the dating game. Be EXTRA weary if she starts calling you just to chat, and not to set up any sort of date. If she sets up a night date then maybe you just have a very forward girl. Lunch dates are not I want you, you sexalicious man. Lunch dates are I want to complain and have some company, be weary of lunch dates.

So those are some of the easy signs, my male readers. Also be aware that some of the more evil women out there will seduce men in order to build herself an army of man-friends. My suggestion for you men who are becoming man-friends and don't want that is to stop letting her. If she flirts, you should turn cold and have her then start to want you. If she calls, tell her you'll call her back. Try to regain the date position in the relationship, other than that, you might as well move on to another girl who won't take up your time and toy with your emotions for nothing.

Building Real Estate New Home Construction Tips

Your next few months constructing your new home could prove to be a time consuming and daunting task. You must recognize that it is difficult, if not impossible to have everything go smoothly. When buying a home while it is under construction you must have some key notes available. First, the contract of purchase and sale must be clear and very detailed to outline your expectations. It must describe the specifics including the details of the labor and materials used to satisfy your buying agreement. These stand from of construction contracts are available and these forms of agreement are designed to provide an enforceable agreement between the seller (builder) and the buyer.

If your developer asks for a deposit (which he will) make sure that it will be deposited into a trust account. If the agreement should default, the deposit should always be returned back to yourself. If the developer wishes to hold your deposit as a stake holder, the return of your deposit may be more difficult. In addition to the standard contract of purchase and sale, you should include a specifications sheet and the plans for the house. Building contracts are long, complex documents. Both parties (builder/seller and buyer) should obtain legal advice prior to entering into a building contract.

Do the walk though! Insist that prior to possession date, both parties conduct a walk-through of the property prior to possession date. Make sure that all the work is completed and agreed upon. At this time, both the seller and the buyer should sign and date the list. Copies should be given to both parties, realtor?s and lawyers involved. The crown has developed a program in 1998 called the Home Owners Protection Office. Essentially it is designed to protect the quality of construction in a new home development. This office licenses residential builders and building envelope renovators, monitor?s the provisions of mandatory third-party home warranty insurance and researches/educates the residential construction industry and consumers.

If you are the owner of a leaky home, the HPO will administer no-interest repair loan programs and PST relief grants for owners. They?re set up to ensure that no one has to lose their home due to the cost of repairing a leaky home. The reconstruction loan program provides no interest loans to homeowners and housing co-op?s who are unable to pay for the cost of repairs.

Your warranty includes a minimum of two years on labor and materials. Five years on the building envelope which includes water penetration. And ten years on the structure. In order to minimize confusion about warranties, the HPO created this 2, 5, 10 year home warranty insurance logo. It?s now used in the marketing campaigns of your local realtors and builders in the Residential real estate market of British Columbia homes. This should take place when you first occupy the home. You could always find more information on this topic by visiting www.hop.bc.ca

Finally make sure that your realtor inserts a clause clearly stating that the occupancy certificate must be obtained on or before completion date. However, landscaping and other outside work can still be in the process of completion. Your occupancy permit merely allows you to move into your new home! We hope this article helped you think of some things that you might not normally know. Please do not rely on this article as a guide or legal advice as you should always consult your lawyer or local realtor for advice, they are the expert.

Langan's Brasserie in The Seventies

The most popular restaurants in the Seventies were places to see and to be seen in. The newly opened Langan's Brasserie in Stratton Street, on the site of the old Coq D'Or, fitted this bill perfectly. Peter Langan, the alcoholic genius who created the restaurant, hosted preview dinners, leading up to the opening in 1976. The ambience was enticing, donated fine art splattered the walls, David Hockney designed the menus, but in those days, the food was the least interesting thing about the restaurant. It was the famous clientele that attracted the caf? society in droves. On one given weeknight, you could spot deranged members of the British aristocracy, Hockney, David Bailey, Jack Nicholson, Andy Warhol, The Shah of Persia, and President Gerald Ford munching away. (Statesmen were invariably encircled by tables of their security staff). Diners scoffed bangers and mash, while viewing the restaurant's visual froth, which included socialites, top models and their entourages of fashion designers and fashionable hairdressers.

Once the restaurant opened, if provincials booked a table, thinking they could star spot, they were shoved upstairs to 'Siberia', to ogle if they so wished, Patrick Procktor's freshly painted mural of Venice. The top table, which Peter Langan reserved for his friends was near the entrance, next to one of the big windows in the restaurant. One of the main attractions of the restaurant was Peter himself, who thrived on being an outrageously rude court jester. He revelled in verbally attacking his adoring customers, and behaved like a sexist pig towards his women victims. Funnily enough, trapped diners regarded it an honour if Peter descended on their tables and ruined their meals.

The Sculptor Peter Schleshinger drew a lovely portrait of me in the early Seventies, and the architect who bought it in order to scare his children loaned it to Langan's. It was shoved at the far end of the restaurant near the library on the ground floor, which gave me a legitimate excuse to 'see and be seen', while I table hopped through the restaurant in order to view it, during my days as a gossip columnist. The characters in Frantic, my novel about the early Seventies didn't make a habit of going out to swanky restaurants. That's because they were holed up in trendy cafes, modelled on the infamous Up All Night in Fulham Road, where wired partygoers used to come down from their drugs. 'One fading afternoon, in a popular Knightsbridge watering hole, Alice's pounding head lay submerged in her triple expresso coffee (she had spent a tough night at The Igloo)' is a quote from Frantic which illustrates the fad for all night cafes in the early Seventies. Food didn't seem to be so popular in those days.

The fodder was definitely the least important thing about Langan's, although the cr?me br?l?e was divine. It was the best thing on the menu, and one needed a pickaxe to crack the crust. When I interviewed Jackie Collins re: her book Hollywood Wives, we consumed cr?me br?l?e for our starter, main course and desert. And, no, we didn't have the top table. We had the second top one!

Upholding Volvo Standards

A full-size station wagon, the Volvo V70 of the Volvo Car Group is originally a development of the 850 station wagon and sedan series. A trivia for this car company is that it has a naming strategy that completely depends on the vehicles' size and body style. The car manufacturer, Volvo, in the station wagon segment adopted V (which means Versatility), S (which stands for Sedan), and C (which refers to the new Coupe and Convertible).

The Volvo V70 upholds the Volvo body style which means artless riffs on the right angle, bearing utility and beauty all in one vehicle. This vehicle has a styling that is restrained and elegant yet at the same time crisp and uplifting. It has been made available with different packages. One of these is the sport leather package that offers fine-grained hides on the steering wheel and gear-selector boot. The security package, meanwhile, features all-important mass movement and level sensors, security laminated windows, and an air-quality system. Also, the cold weather package did not fail to offer traction and stability control, heated seats, and head lamp washers and wipers. As an addition, options also included a Dolby Pro Logic in-dash four-CD audio system along with nine speakers. This audio system also comes with an astounding clarity and stereo imaging.

In its interior, the Volvo V70 holds 60/40 split rear seats that are easy to use, and also provides an impressive 71.5 cubic feet of cargo volume. The rear seats also sport two seatback-angle settings that are in a fully upright position for increased cargo space. As per safety, which is one of Volvo's main values that should not be excluded in the manufacture of their vehicles, the Volvo V70 has dual stage airbags, whiplash protection seats and ISOFIX attachment points for rear child safety seats. The ISOFIX hooks guarantee that the child buckets do not move up the side windows in case of accidents.

Overall, the Volvo V70 exudes an aura of civility, responsibility and parental role modeling. It also provides the driver a feel of traveling faster. Also, this vehicle had options laid out in reference to its engines. There is the 2.4 liter engine; the 2.4 T engine that could produce 197 horsepower, and the 2.4 T engine XC with an all wheel drive. The five-cylinder engine is able to provide a smooth performance along with a nice power from its torque production.

Volvo definitely considered comfort in the construction of the Volvo V70. The seats have been specially designed so as to provide a maximum level of support and comfort. Climate control is found on most of the models in the line up, along with high technology audio equipment with Dolby pro logic and subwoofers made available. The leather seats have become standard along with extra soft luxury leather seats as well.

Volvo Parts and Used Volvo Parts has a product line up for Volvo V70 parts that includes accessories, brakes, cooling system parts, suspension, steering, fuel injection parts, and more.

Theres Some Place Like Home

As our population lives longer, the need for quality care for the elderly is growing and family members are frantically searching for creative alternatives that allow their loved ones to be part of the family and community for as long as possible. Theyre also searching for options that help them feel good about their decision and that minimize the inevitable feeling of guilt.

As our population lives longer, the need for quality care for the elderly is growing and family members are frantically searching for creative alternatives that allow their loved ones to be part of the family and community for as long as possible. Theyre also searching for options that help them feel good about their decision and that minimize the inevitable feeling of guilt.

Bob Phillips, owner of S.A.R.A.H. Adult Day Services in Strongsville knows from personal experience that his facility provides such an alternative for many families facing these difficult choices.

My mother lived alone and was quite self-sufficient for 23 years. Then she broke her leg and everything changed, explains Bob. It was obvious she needed care during the day that our family couldnt provide, but we werent comfortable with our options. We knew Mom didnt need to be in a nursing home and home health care didnt provide her social interaction with anyone but the home care aide.

Shortly afterwards, Bob sought the advice of Dr. Merle Griff, an experienced Gerontologist in the Canton area. In 1985, Dr. Griff founded S.A.R.A.H. Adult Day Services in Canton. The more Bob spoke to her, the more interested he became in adult day care, not only as a customer but as a provider.

In October of 2001, after considerable research and planning, Bob and his wife, Rita, opened the Strongsville S.A.R.A.H. Center. See SARAH Adult Day for more information.

Rita Phillips designed the centers interior to be reminiscent of Grandmas House. Victorian style furniture complete with lace doilies fills the living room, dining room and parlor. Memories are important to the elderly. We want our clients to feel at home when theyre here, says Rita.

More important to the centers homey atmosphere is the staff. S.A.R.A.H. employs six full time staffers, including an R.N., each of whom has a home health care background and experience working with seniors. No one wants to think about leaving their loved one with strangers all day, but once our families meet our staff, they no longer seem like strangers, offers Bob.

Seniors that attend the center enjoy the company of other seniors. Nutritious meals, snacks and the scheduled activities further promote good physical, mental and emotional health. Clients, both men and women, take part in crafts, music, exercise and socializing time. Ritas father, the accordion-playing Steve Saporita, is a favorite, We enable our clients to do things that they just wouldnt do in home care, Bob boasts. Its important to everyones emotional and mental health to experience these types of interactions, especially seniors. They really enjoy it.

In terms of costs, one day of care at the center typically costs less than three hours of home care. Clients also receive medical and nutritional care throughout the day. Healthy meals are provided and clients are encouraged to eat properly. Medicines are given at the right time and in the proper dosage. Personal hygiene is also important. Our staff showers clients if necessary, takes them to the rest room and handle any incontinence problems that may occur. We have a 1-to-4 staff-to-client ratio, so services are provided in a timely and caring fashion, Bob states.

The Strongsville S.A.R.A.H. Center has recently received Certification as a Senior Approved Service. For a free Quality of Service Report see Certified Senior Approved I was overwhelmed by the response this survey revealed of our clients perspective of how we provide services, says Bob. It made us both proud and humble. Now we feel our job is to educate more and more people of the sandwich generation who embrace day care centers as valuable resources for their children, but might not be aware that the same principles hold true at adult centers for their parents.

Educational Games For Babies 6 To 12 Months

By six months of age your baby may be sitting unassisted, her coordination skills are growing in leaps and bounds, and she will soon be crawling, standing, and then walking. Six to twelve months is a fun time for parents and babies. Play a variety of games with your little one and watch her quickly master new skills, like language skills and fine and gross motor development.

Between 6 and 9 months your baby will love to experiment with simple cause and effect relationships like pressing a button to play a song. Little ones also love to explore sounds by banging spoons and toys together or on the table at this age. Give your baby an assortment of pots, coffee cans, and containers along with wooden spoons and metal spoons. Encourage her to play the drums as you sing along. The Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Toy Bench is a great toy to satisfy those banging urges. It also offers a number of educational benefits, like color and letter recognition, and provides opportunities for your baby to explore cause and effect.

Games with balls are a lot of fun at this age. Use soft, squishy balls to roll back and forth across the floor with your baby. Try dropping beanbags into a wide, open container. Your little one will love taking them out just as much as watching you toss them in. Once your baby starts to crawl, set up an obstacle course for her to crawl over. Pillows, large stuffed animals, and piles of soft cloth scraps make perfect climbing obstacles to boost her crawling skills and strengthen the muscles she will soon use to walk.

Sometime between 9 months old and the first birthday, most babies will begin to walk, some earlier and some later. During this age, your baby will be developing a number of new large muscles as well as her fine motor skills. She will know how to hold her toys and can probably throw them. These soon-to-be toddlers also love to imitate and copy the things they see.

Play sound games with your baby. Make a sound or unusual noise and encourage your baby to copy it. Try this with funny faces and movements for even more fun. Stacking and arranging blocks, cups, or other toys is also a fun game to enhance fine motor development. Give your baby an assortment of toys and a big box and watch her meticulously put them in and then dump them again all over the floor.

Sing lots of silly songs with your child and read everyday. Language skills are becoming quite strong during this stage and her vocabulary of understood words is growing rapidly. Repetition of her favorite story books, nursery rhymes, and songs can give her an even better understanding of the common patterns of spoken language. Songs with movements, like the Itsy Bitsy Spider, are favorites at this age.

As your baby begins to cruise around the house, typically using furniture to aid her balance, play walking games. Hold her teddy bear or another cherished toy a few steps away and encourage your little one to walk to you to get it. Remember to praise her efforts and not to make too big of a deal when she stumbles or falls. Once your baby becomes a confident toddler, there are tons of new games to enjoy together!

What Type of Baby Equipment Will You Need?

Are you planning to have a baby? Having a baby is a major event in any couples life and would often entails major adjustments as well. You will realize that you will need a big space just to accommodate all the baby equipment you will need. For such tiny beings, their stuff can certainly occupy a lot of space. Visiting family and friends can seem like a military operation and cant really be unplanned. You have to plan ahead and decide which equipment will be required for a particular trip. Many parents keep a bag ready and full of all the equipment theyll need. Going on grander trips like vacations requires even more preparation.

Baby equipment is also an expensive business, and some parents buy used equipment or receive gifts from grandparents and other relatives. If you have items for your firstborn, you can hand them some of them to your next baby. It is important to purchase products from reputable companies, to guarantee safety and quality.

Parents also need to consider a babys daily need such as, sterilization units, formula bottles, and bottlebrushes for cleaning the babys bottles. A teat brush is perfect for cleaning the teats. It would also be a good idea to obtain a set of bibs with convenient Velcro strips. If you are using non-disposables diapers, youll require pins for fastening them. It would also be good if you can have a changing mat that your baby can lie on and such a delicate bottom will require lots of moistened baby swipes.

It can be easy to over look the less obvious baby equipment youll need, like cotton tipped baby ear cleaners or baby nail clippers. Finding a cot with a good mattress and bedding will be crucial in giving your baby a good sleep. A well rested infant is a happy baby, with happy parents. You may also need a traveling cot for overnight visits to grandparents and other relatives.

Another major concern to consider when purchasing baby equipment is safe transportation. A good car seat is essential, and most stores will supply a trained individual to fit it in your car. A baby will also need a buggy. This can have a variety of accessories to cope with different weather conditions, such as a parasol to shade your baby from the sun and a rain cover to keep your infant dry and snug.

When your baby grows into a toddler, you will need other types of baby equipment to keep your child safe. To prevent accidents, install stair gates at the top and at the bottom of the stairs. Cooker guards will thwart your toddler from pulling down cooking pots, and socket guards will prevent your child from poking curios fingers into dangerous places.

Your baby equipment must keep up with your infants development, as your child progresses from formula into a variety of drinks and solid food. You will need weaning spoons and training cups at this phase of your babys growth.

Baby equipment can also provide a lot of fun, with colorful swings, play pens, and rocking cradles. You can choose to stencil cartoon character into your toddlers high chair. After a day of fun, you can lie down for the night while listening to the baby monitor.

Use Children's Books to Encourage Kids to Read

Use Children's Books to Encourage Kids to Read

As most parents know, reading skills are critical for preschool learning and childhood development. Studies have shown that children that are diagnosed with reading problems during their early school years, will continue having reading and learning problems through the 9th grade and beyond. Even more troubling, almost 50 percent of adolescents and young people with criminal records have reading difficulties.

Sadly, many of today's kids would rather watch TV or play video games than read a book. Being a bookworm, or even showing an interest in reading, is percieved as a erdish activity. Most of the heros in today's society are professional athletes, actors, or music icons.

But don't despair, all is not lost. Getting your kids to read can be a challange, but with the use of quality children's books, it doesn't have to be an insermountable one. Here are some steps you can take in order to encourage reading in children:

The first step to read to your child at an early age. Many adults have fond memories of their parents reading them bedtime stories when they were toddlers, and reading to your child will help foster a love of words and reading.

Be a good reading ole model for your children or grandchildren. Let them see you reading on a regular basis, and how much you enjoy reading books and magazines.

Another good idea is to fill your child's room with books. Kids who grow up surrounded by books learn to think of them as friends, and allies in their pursuit of reading, learning, and wonderful new adventures.

As your child grows and matures, introduce him or her to books that match their interests and hobbies. Show them how an informative book can deepen and expand their knowledge on a particular topic--and expand their horizons as well.

Make sure your child or grandchild has a library card. Libraries are wonderful resources for reading and learning. Show your children how libraries can be places of wonder and excitement, and can open up new worlds of learning that will last a lifetime.

And lastly, consider setting limits on the amount of time your child spends in front of a TV or video game console. While there's nothing wrong with playing video games or watching TV, those activities aren't going to do much to develop your child's reading and language skills. For that, you need to set them down in front of a good children's book, and make sure they spend at least 30 minutes per day reading it.

They might not like it now, but chances are they'll thank you for it later on in life.
